A new digital media company is headquartered in Philadelphia

Philadelphia has a rich history, ranked as the birthplace of the United States and the home of many firsts.

A new “first” can now be added to the list, because Hybrid chose Philadelphia as the location for its US headquarters, beating out Boston and several other competing cities.

The selection was made after a conducted analysis of the cities based on various factors including business friendliness and ability to recruit talent.

In the announcement, Hybrid executives described Philadelphia as “a city whose diversity, vibrancy, and place at the heart of the education and technology sectors make it our place in the United States.”

The city was also praised for being founded on “dynamic leadership, with a forward-thinking attitude and a decidedly cosmopolitan vision for the next stage”, making it a “match made in global office heaven”.

Founded in 2009 and based in Bristol, UK, Hybrid is a digital media company that brings together journalists, digital strategists, creatives and business minds to work in the transformative sectors of education superior and technology.

Since its initial launch, Hybrid has expanded globally with offices in Sydney, Australia and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Philadelphia will add yet another layer to its expansion efforts.

“The opportunity in bustling Philly is second to none, higher education is big business and with 40 partners in the state already, we have a great base to build on,” said Hybrid CEO Chris Cammann, in a statement.

According to the Philadelphia Business Journal, when Philly was chosen as the US headquarters, 30 different office spaces in Center City, University City and Northern Liberties were evaluated.

Ultimately, Center City was selected and its headquarters will open in the building at 1600 Market Street.

“It was important…to be close to foot traffic,” said Michael Rabinowitz, a Tactix Real Estate Advisors broker who represented Hybrid.

He added that there was a desire to be close to Rittenhouse Square and in a building with amenities, ease of access and close to where employees want to live and where recruiters would have a solid opportunity. to find new talent.

To that end, Cammann said, “We are here to support businesses and education service providers, meet their challenges head-on, and build long-term partnerships. »

Hybrid plans to grow the new Philadelphia office to 80 employees over the next two to three years.

The positions she intends to fill include business development managers, digital media and content managers, technical writers and ultimately a creative team.
