The head of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, has disavowed the social media account believed to belong to him.
In a statement on Sunday, the organization’s national publicity secretary, Jare Ajayi, said the social media account in Adebanjo’s name is fake and was “created by evil people for nefarious purposes”. .
“It is hereby made clear that Chief Adebanjo has no social media accounts, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. Whenever he has something to say to the public, he does so directly in speaking to the press, through an interview or a press release It also speaks to the public through the secretary general or the national secretary for publicity of Afenifere. social media was created by malicious people for nefarious purposes as can be seen in one of the posts claiming to explain why Adebanjo is supporting Mr. Peter Obi in the upcoming presidential election in 2023 instead of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu , a Yorubaman Adebanjo usually speaks directly with the press, print and electronic, any information claiming to be from said ‘social media account’ should be totally ignored,” Ajayi said.

Some electronic media, on Saturday, cited a Twitter account where Adebanjo was supposed to have explained why he supported Labor Party presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi rather than All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
But, Ajayi quoted Adebanjo as saying his support for Obi is “more fundamental and constitutional than the reason alleged in the fake social media account.”
“Adebanjo does not have a social media account, anything on the Twitter account cannot be taken as coming from him. He does not have such accounts as he speaks directly to the media or does ensure that its views are conveyed to the public via the organization’s general secretary or national publicity secretary. The media and members of the public are hereby instructed to disregard any statement purporting to come from the account of Pa Adebanjo’s social media because he has none,” Ajayi said.
