John Hartiganformer CEO of News Ltd and Chairman of Prime Media, is appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO).
He began his career at the age of 16 in newspapers and went on to serve as founding editor of The Daily Sun newspaper in Brisbane, then managing editor and editor of the Daily Telegraph and the Sunday Telegraph.
Tony Walkera former foreign correspondent (Australian Financial Review and Financial Times), is a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).
Seven News presenter Jane Doyle received an Order of Australia Medal (OAM).
Peter Ryanthe ABC’s senior economics correspondent, also gets an OAM: “Honored and humbled to receive an OAM this day from Australia for my longevity in broadcast media. Quite a journey from the days of the Daily Mirror copyboys in Sydney 42 years ago into a world of hot metal, typewriters and lots of shouting.”
