Bored Apes Yacht Club (BAYC) suffered another compromise. The project’s Instagram account was hacked by hackers.
BAYC notifies public of potential Instagram hack
The hackers then shared links to a fake airdrop using the account. In a Tweeterthe BAYC team has advised market participants to avoid all NFT minting offers and link account shares.
There is no coinage today. It looks like BAYC Instagram has been hacked. Do not hit anything, click on links or link your wallet to anything, said the tweet.
At this time, it is still unknown if any users lost assets in the compromise. However, market participants have expressed concern over the event, especially as it is the second compromise the project’s social media accounts have suffered this month.
On the first day of this month, the project’s Discord server was pirate, causing users to lose their monkeys. However, the BAYC server was not the only NFT account attacked that day. Other NFT-centric Discord servers, such as Doodles, Shamanzs, and Nyoki, which use the same tool, have seen similar phishing attacks.
Following the current compromise, a market player, “@dingdingETH” has suggested that the project reimburse all victims of the hack. There were suggestions to also strengthen the security of the project.
Yuga Labs prepares the launch of the metaverse
The hack comes shortly after YUGA Laboratories, the owner of the NFT project, released an update on its planned metaverse project. According to the post, the project will be unveiled on April 30.

Yuga Labs also teased that there will be another set of characters – Koda – that will be part of the metaverse projects.
Meanwhile, the price of ApeCoin has risen. The recently launched token that will power the project’s metaverse ecosystem is trading at around $17.67, up 2.4%. ApeCoin is up 30.3% in the last month per crypto ranking data.
