The Newspaper and Magazine Distributors Association of Nigeria (NDAN) has called on government at all levels, the private sector, groups and advertisers to urgently address the neglect of the sector over the years.
The call was contained in a statement signed by association president Godwin Akpan yesterday, where he noted that newspaper and magazine distributors inform, persuade, entertain, persuade and change the behavior of their customers.
Applauding the distributors, the group noted, “Newspaper and magazine distributors distribute print information on national, state and local levels of government, information on stocks to buy, business launch and political information. on which parties and personalities are winning in the ballot.
NDAN pleaded with the government to educate vendors and provide them with additional skills.
Akpan said, “Government or interest groups should identify with us, collect data and provide necessary assistance to our organization. They should provide a favorable business environment for distributors of press products by improving infrastructure and providing insurance coverage for sellers in the event of an accident.
“Newspaper distributors create new needs in the minds of customers to buy a particular product, but what they get in return are peanuts and total negligence, with many vendors and agents losing their lives in accidents of the road or injuries sustained that result in permanent disability while navigating their trade without any support from government or interest groups.
