Kanye West follows in the digital footsteps of Elon Musk and donald trump – buying his own social media company to voice his opinion…a company that leans in his direction, politically.
The rapper/producer just agreed to buy Parler – a once-defunct conservative platform similar to Twitter, which was taken offline early last year and removed from a ton of apps… including Apple, Google and Amazon.
Since then, he has been fighting to make a comeback, and Ye is mobilizing to do so.
He says: “In a world where conservative views are seen as controversial, we need to make sure we have the right to express ourselves freely.
Parler, for his part, said it was a “revolutionary move in the free speech media space and will never have to worry about being taken off social media again.” .
Terms of the purchase were not disclosed and Parler notes that he has yet to enter into a formal contract with Kanye which he expects to execute in the fourth quarter. It had been reported that Parler had raised over $56 million in funding to restore the site.
Parler was initially removed because the ISP’s services claimed it was not doing enough to prevent hate speech and potential violence from fomenting on its pages. Similarly, KW was also recently banned from Twitter and Instagram for anti-Semitic remarks…among other public attacks, not to mention his White Lives Matter Statements.
We should note… Ye’s new BFF, Candace Owens, may have made things easier. Her husband, George Farmeris the CEO of Parler – although, presumably, he would take precedence over Kanye if that came to fruition.
Assuming Kanye actually takes the reins, he can finally say what he wants…maybe. Even Parler has reportedly changed its policies to be more traditional since it was banned.
