Since Ms. Marvel hit Disney+ in early June, fans were excited about the newest and youngest addition to the team, Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel. And to say that Ms. Marvel herself, aka Iman Vellani, is the biggest fan of the Marvel-based series would be an understatement. A staunch follower of the comic books and on-screen productions Marvel has produced over the past few years, no one else comes close to Vellani’s knowledge of superhero characters.
Not only does she probably know more about the backgrounds of the various characters than her peers and fellow actors, but Iman Vellani wonders to the fact that being inside Kevin Feige’s universe allows him a first glimpse and a better understanding of what’s to come. During a session during Late Night with Seth Meyers, which you can see below, the young actress admitted to having several online burning accounts that allow her to post anonymously and chat with other Marvel fans. She revealed that her favorite account to use is Reddit where she engages in the discourse surrounding fan theories on what’s to come next. When others advance their false speculations about what’s to come for Ms. Marvel and the other characters in her series, Vellani rushes to the keyboard to tell them how wrong they are. If only they knew they were getting real insider information!
In the series, Iman Vellani plays the lead role, Ms. Marvel. Art imitates life because Kamala Khan is just as fan of the Avengers as Vellani. In particular, Kamala idolizes and fangirls over Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). When Kamala mysteriously gains a set of her own superpowers, the teenager finds herself having a much harder time adjusting than she had imagined. Along with her newfound powers, she still has to deal with family, friends, and the endless pains of high school.
With Iman Vellani, Ms. Marvel also stars Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, Laurel Marsden, Azhar Usman, Rish Shah, Arian Moayed, Alysia Reiner, Laith Nakli, Nimra Bucha, Travina Springer, Adaku Ononogbo, Samina Ahmad, Fawad Khan, Mehwish Hayat, Farhan Akhtar and Aramis Knight. The series was created by Bisha K. Ali, a writer and comedian who also ran the writer’s room for the series. Adding more creatives with long experience in the film industry, the production hired Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, known as Team Adil & Bilall, as lead directors. If you’re a fan of the Bad Boys franchise, you’ll recognize the bar duo’s names bad boys for life.
As for the adventures of Kamala Khan, we can then expect to see her in the 2023 film, Wonders, where she will cross paths with her personal hero, Captain Marvel. While we don’t have much info on the production, it’s possible that if you head to Reddit and post a fan theory, Iman Vellani will show up to corroborate or blow your Marvel dreams out of the water.
