Nowadays, there is this new trend in the online world – new parents create a Facebook and/or Instagram account for their children and post several visuals of it. Is this a good or a bad thing? People online on Reddit discussed this at length.
The conversation started when a user wrote: People who create social media accounts for their toddlers, I hope your child will grow up and follow you.
Calling it “attention seeking,” the user further noted that an act like this compromises the privacy of children at such a young age and many could be bullied in the future.
“But what’s most horrifying is that in the despicable world we live in, where privacy is clearly an imaginary concept, people not only share the most private pictures of their children (without their permission though sure), but also subjects them to embarrassment/jokes/bullying for the future.
The user further suggested that creating an entirely separate page/account for children and sharing their visuals without their consent should be an offence.
“Creating an entirely separate page for the child with squeaky subtitles should be an offense. It rips out the agency and privacy of a future adult in more ways than one can begin to imagine.
