Update (08/12/22): A Trump spokesperson told Vice that “the track in the video is not a song called ‘WWG1WGA’ by Richard Feelgood, but rather…a song called ‘Mirrors,’ by the television and film composer Will Van De Crommert, who composed music for Saturday Night Live and the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, among others. However, as Vice notes, “the songs are identical, according to a music theory teacher”. Media Matters also used Audacity audio editing software to analyze isolated audio tracks from the two Mirrors and Wwg1wgaand found that their audio profiles were virtually identical.
Former President Donald Trump appeared to use a song named after the QAnon conspiracy theory slogan in a video promoting his rally speeches, which some members of the QAnon community have touted as supposedly corroborating the categorically false conspiracy theory and the movement it inspired.
On August 9, Trump posted a video on his Truth Social social media platform with footage of himself speaking at his rallies and criticizing President Joe Biden. The video featured background audio and visual footage of rain and thunderstorms before switching to a rising instrumental music track.
