Continuation of organizing the Set Basics workshop on June 11
ST. LOUS, MO – May 5, 2022 – The media industry is no exception when it comes to wanting a skilled and diverse workforce, but like many other businesses, finding content creators, filmmakers and team members to of different backgrounds, ethnicities, races, ages, identities and neurodivergence can be quite challenging. To help meet this demand, Continuity, a St. Louis-based nonprofit, has created day-long workshops to teach people the basic skills and networking they need to start working in the media industry. Their mission is to expand diversity in media production through skills-based training, mentorship and opportunities for untapped talent.
On Saturday, June 11, Continuity will host its second Set Basics workshop at Spot Content Studio in South Town St Louis. The workshop is sponsored by the Missouri Film Office and offers 30 attendees an intense 10-hour day to learn set etiquette, how a film set works, and how to find work. Participation is by invitation only and those interested should submit an application online.

The objective of the Set Basics workshop is to demystify and shed light on the variety of roles on film, corporate and commercial production sets and to educate participants on the many opportunities to get started in the film industry. and video. The workshop will be hosted by local media personality Jade Harrell and will feature nine industry professionals from St. Louis, including Circa 87 Films’ Dan Steadman (former casting director for NBC, Fox, Paramount, Animal Planet and VH-1) and Missouri Film Office Commissioner Andrea Sporcic.
The Set Basics workshop will be held in Kansas City in the fall and will be offered locally once again before the end of the year. Continuity will continue to offer the workshops in multiple cities in the years to come with various dates slated for 2023.
