Former US President Donald Trump announced he would be launching a personal social media platform, but hackers gained access just hours later and posted pictures of explosives, pigs defecating, and more. .
Former President Trump’s social media account hacked
According to USA Today, the hackers are linked to the infamous Anonymous group, and the move was part of their online war on hate.
The New York Times reported that by using a fake account named “donaldjtrump”, the hackers posted several photos of pigs, wrote profane rants against Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, and created a fake account for Steve Bannon, l former adviser to the president. Asset.

Aubrey Cottle, a hacker affiliated with Anonymous, revealed that they had fun trolling the old administration.
Cottle told multiple outlets the group picked up clues after the site called Truth Social and made the app available for pre-order from Apple’s App Store earlier this week.
Users were able to get on a waiting list for its release, and hackers claimed that these coins provided enough information to access the platform version.
Hackers gained access just hours after Truth Social’s October 21 announcement. The app then banned new accounts and was immediately taken offline.
According to a Washington Post reporter, they were able to register and post under a “mikepence” account name.
On October 20, Trump announced Truth Social months after being banned from other social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.
Trump was blocked on social media sites after the pro-Trump riot on Capitol Hill on January 6. Twitter said his ban on the former president was permanent.
Earlier this month, President Trump filed a lawsuit against Twitter to recover his account, but to no avail.
Facebook, on the other hand, has said that former President Trump could return in 2023. YouTube has said its ban on the former US president will be lifted once the risk of violence decreases.
Trump said in a statement that Truth Social and the Trump Media and Technology Group will oppose the tyranny of tech companies. The platform is expected to launch nationwide in early 2022.
Trump’s social media in trouble
CNN cited three reasons why it is believed Trump’s social media platform will not take off.
Trump’s social media platform is expected to compete with Twitter. However, Twitter is a massive platform with over 200 million users. It’s a platform already established and used across the country, while Trump’s platform will only be accessible in the United States.
In addition, the conservative social space is already crowded and is not doing very well. Talk was designed to be the Conservatives’ Twitter, but it was shut down by app stores last year in the wake of the January 6 riots.
Finally, Trump is no longer the president and he is not running for any government post. He is still the most prominent and powerful actor in the Republican Party.
However, since his ban from many social media platforms, his ability to lead coverage has declined and his fan base has shrunk.
