Perth’s media industry came together on February 4 for UnLtd’s annual Big Clash cricket tournament, raising $30,000 for at-risk children and young people.

Perth’s media and marketing industry kicked off the year with a bang by raising $30,000 for at-risk children and young people at UnLtd’s annual Big Clash cricket tournament.

On February 4, Adland put industry rivalries aside and banded together to hit and bowl for good at the legendary WACA Ground. Players from sixteen WA market companies formed male and female teams from media agencies and media owners who battled it out for the coveted title in the 41C heat.

In the highly competitive men’s game, MIQ team captain Trent McKeown led the agency’s men’s team to victory in a tight 282–281 finish with the final ball sealing the victory.

The women’s match was equally exciting with the final result falling on the wire. The teams tied with 48 points each and the winner was decided unconventionally with a dash from 25 yards, won by the media owner’s side, captained by ARN’s captain Leilani Vakaahi.

Matt Wilson (Significant Other Creative Agency) was named Male Player of the Day for spending a century on the pitch and Michelle Hawkins (Val Morgan) was named Player of the Day for his outstanding performance throughout the event.

Cricketers and spectators were treated to a premium gelato cart provided by JCDecaux, MiQ and Seven West Media offering prizes and giveaways throughout the day.

Tia Brazier, Managing Director of Perth, UnLtd, said: “We have been absolutely delighted with the support and participation in the WA Big Clash. Adland fired it up in the 41-degree heat to fight for UnLtd’s charity partners. The money raised will make such a difference to the important work that our local charities are doing to help at-risk youth in WA.

“Playing at WACA, the home of cricket, has been a fantastic experience for all and we would like to thank all of our partners and sponsors, especially Seven West Media, MiQ and JCDecaux. With the UnLtd Open scheduled for May 19 at the course Wembley Golf Club, we are also accepting entries, so get your teams in early!

Trent McKeown, WA & SA Sales Manager, MiQ said, “MiQ is very proud to support UnLtd, and a great cause that helps underprivileged youth. It was a stunning day at WACA, featuring two of the closest cricket matches spectators could have hoped to see.

“Thumbs up to Tia and the UnLtd team for putting on such an awesome event, and to those who supported the cause by purchasing raffle tickets and auction items. MiQ looks forward to supporting more UnLtd events in 2022 and will be back for the Big Clash 2023 with the bells!

Bonnie Foster, Marketing Partnership Manager, Seven West Media added: “The annual Big Clash cricket match was such an enjoyable and rewarding day. Not only were we able to support the UnLtd charities, but we also got to laugh, cry and most importantly have fun.

“It was an honor to have the opportunity to lead such a wonderful girl group, which made the day even more rewarding.”
