Virgin Media O2 is reviewing its media planning and buying account, following the merger of the two telecom companies in 2020.
The review comes after VCCP was named to Virgin Media O2’s Consolidated Creative Account, following a competitive pitch against Adam & Eve/DDB.
Havas Media and Manning Gottlieb OMD are the licensees.
Havas Media has managed O2’s media planning and buying since 2015 and MG OMD has held Virgin Media’s media account since 2008.
Campaign understands both incumbents have been asked to rehearse, with Liberty Global handling the review.
A Virgin Media O2 spokesperson said Campaign“Media is an important area of investment for Virgin Media O2 and as such we have decided to review our media planning and buying plans to ensure they are in line with our strategic, operational needs and commercial.”
Claire Marker, Chief Customer Officer of MG OMD, said Campaign the agency will participate in the review.
“We are proud to build on our incredible history with Virgin Media and excited to be part of this process with VMO2,” she said.
A spokesperson for Havas Media declined to comment.
In October 2021, the combined company launched its first co-branded campaign by launching Volt, a broadband and mobile network service. MG OMD handled the planning and media buying for the campaign.
